Simple Folding Techniques: Towels & Sheets

Today I’d like to show you how there are a few ways to fold towels and a great way to fold your dreaded fitted sheets.

We all have towels and fitted sheets that might not be fitting into our linen closets or drawers because they are not folded very well and then you can’t find the matching set because you have no order.

Folding Towels

Starting with a Kitchen Drawer, which is one of my smallest drawers in my house. The best way to fit my towels and dish clothes in the drawer is by folding the towel length wise in half and then roll them tight then place them up and down in the drawer. Then the dish towels rolled horizontally. I move the towels forward when I take one out so I’m not using the same towel each week.

3 ways to fold bath towels:

  1. Fold in from top to bottom, then fold 3, into a square
  2. Fold length wise sides, fold in ½ , then fold 3 into oblong
  3. Fold in ½, fold in ½ again, then fold 3 into wider oblong

How to fold beach towels:

Large:

  1. fold top to bottom, fold in ½, then fold in 3
  2. fold top to bottom then roll

Small:

  1. Fold length wise, fold in ½, then fold 3 into oblong
  2. fold in ½, fold in ½ again, fold 3

Folding Sheets

Fitted sheets are usually balled up in a corner or found underneath beds or on the floor of the linen closet because most people find them hard to fold. Just a few steps will change that thinking:

  1. Take your fist and place it in the corner of the sheet length wise find the other corner and stuff it inside.
  2. Put your other fist in the other side and shake the sheet so it forms a square.
  3. Lay it down on table/bed and flatten with your hands.
  4. Press sheet so it looks like one big square
  5. Fold bottom in, then top down, then in ½
  6. Flatten with your hands to get rid of wrinkles and stuff ends inside
  7. Fold in half, flatten with hands
  8. Fold in from the open side 2x’s and flatten with hands

I think it’s hard to organize an entire closet all at one time when you don’t have the time. So, take one shelf at a time and use these folding ideas. See how much more space you’ll have and how nice your closet will look once it’s all in order.
