Organizing for Seniors
When There is Order in the House, There is Peace in the Home! This is especially true for seniors who are wanting or needing to leave their family home. Seniors delay this process for four reasons.
- Seniors are overwhelmed with the amount of “stuff” in their homes and the thought of sorting through it, selling it, giving it away, or throwing it away.
- Their children are busy or don’t live close by, and the thought of going through their possessions by themselves delays the process of downsizing to a more affordable and easy to manage living situation, sometimes by years.
- Seniors don’t have the physical or emotional strength and stamina to sort, organize, pack, sell, or toss their most prized treasured possessions.
- Seniors have memories around everything in their home and they fear that when they “lose” the item, they will lose the memory. And today the loss of their “memory” is what seniors fear most.

When a senior passes on or is moving into an assisted living facility, sometimes a bank and/or lawyer is made the Executor of the estate who will hire third parties in order to get the house sold. Lisa Organizes is an Ethical Estate Organizer who will find all things of value in the house by going through every drawer, cabinet closet and room before an estate sale company is hired for them to appraise and sell those items to receive maximum cash for the family. The estate sale companies don’t usually work with a client on what is kept, trashed or sold. An EEO starts with the client and listens to their needs and then separates all possessions in these categories and helps the customer be prepared for the sale.
