When we speak to clients, there’s often a blurred line about what a cleaning service provides and what a home organizer can do. To clear up some of the confusion and dispel some of the myths, here are a few things to keep in mind:
Equipment
- Organizing consists of bins, baskets and some type of organizing essentials.
- Cleaning consists of buckets, cleaning products, vacuums, dust rags etc.
How Things Get Done
- Organizers sort, relocate, trash and save things.
- Cleaners don’t go thru your stuff, they go around it and clean.
What the Pros Do
- Organizers will label what is created in the bins, shelves and cabinets.
- Cleaners just put things in piles with no order to keep it that way for long.
- Cleaning usually includes washing/vacuuming floors, countertops and sinks, making beds. Dishes, clothes and toys are usually put away by the client before they come to clean.
- Organizing starts with creating systems that will keep things in order and the client need not put anything away before I come. I clean things out as I go but I do not usually run a vacuum, clean windows or make beds.
So stop cleaning and call to have it organized first. For I believe: “When there is order in the house – there is peace in the home!”
